10th June :  Good news and Bad news and Good news.  The good news is that after a late scare #4 is able to join us on the trip.  It was looking like he would have to pull out.  The bad news however is that none of the 'original' Chumleys are going to be there this year.  Dodgy food has meant that CW#2 has had to pull out.  Bad luck boys.  The good news though is that CW2's brother is still going so we have someone to pay for the Champers on Saturday !!

6th June : 'The Shining' Episode 2 : #3's car gets the Balanced Valet treatment :

5th June : The Shining Episode 1 : #2's car gets the Balanced Valet treatment :

4th June : The rest of the Porscheshire membership are invited to the Champers tent at the same time by the CWs.

3rd June : 2 members of PORSCHSHIRE have been invited for champagne with the ACO on Saturday 14th June.  But which 2 ????

2nd June : The Chumleys, Episode 6.  This week's episode sees a cameo appearance by #3.  "There is good and bad news"  "The good news is that the tickets have arrived" "The bad news is that we are going from Poole and not Portsmouth"  Perhaps we have tickets for the le mans classic in July aswell as Chumley #3 ????

1st June : #8 Peugeot set a new lap record to go quickest in the first test day, but the #7 Peugeot has a BIG accident at the Porsche Curves.  Amazing footage captured on a circuit camera.  Keep watching after the impact.  The driver (Marc Gene) is OK and will drive in the race (amazingly) assuming they can rebuild the car ?  Remember - don;t stand on the outside of a bend.  If you need another reminder as to why then watch Stephan Ortelli's crash at Monza.

Elsewhere in the test dat the Porsche RS Spyders were quickest in LMP2 but the Flying Lizard 911 came in 2nd just behind the Risi Competizione Ferrari.  More info here.

31st May : We thought it would be a good time to re-run an episode of The Chumleys from 'series 1'.  Stop Press - The chumley warners leave early to catch euro tunnel to find their booking is only valid for tomorrow and have to go elsewhere to catch a ferry.  Le Planning speciale.

31st May : The demand for this year's T-shirt was overwhelming resulting in the limited no. selling out in less than 3 days.  They are now SOLD OUT and will no doubt be worth a fortune some day ?

30th May : Formal events at le mans have started.  Click here for info.

29th May : The Chumleys, Episode 5.  Chumleys #1 and #2 are joined by Chumley #3 in this week's episode.  Excitement was building for #1's brother-in-law as his first trip to le mans was now only 2 weeks away - or so we thought.  Final discussions with Porscheshire (to arrange meeting points and events etc with his crew of 4 and their 2 x 911s) were thrown into confusion yesterday. "See you on July 14th then."  "You mean June ?"  "No, July.  It can't be June because I have to be in Paris on June 16th." "Well it's definately June." "****!!!  I had better work out how I am going to be in 2 places at the same time, ********!!" "Indeed"  . . . . Time passed . . . . "Seems we are going to the Classic Le Mans, in July, oops"

28th May : The Porscheshire T-shirt design for le mans 2008 has been launched.  In line with the overall design approach for this year the T-shirt has a very 'binary' 'feel'.  Last minute printing issues may force a slight change of design, but teams are working their very own 24-hour shifts to make it happen.  If you would like to purchase one please leave us a message via the guestbook.  There will be a limited edition run so be quick.

28th May : The list of 55 starters is finalised.  2 Porsche RS Spyders in LMP2 and 3 911s in GT2.  Click here for more info.

28th May : The Chumleys, Episode 4 : Rooms are tidy and chores are done so it looks like they will be free to join us after all.  One car is confirmed as a GT3 but what about the other car ??  And will they join us for lunch on the sharp right-hand bend (see below) ?

27th May : There are rumours of a intra-club meeting with a representative of Beer Mountain during the trip.  What next - an official invite to start the race ??

26th May : The Porscheshire route to le mans has been confirmed :

Wed 11th June - travel from Cheshire to GunWharf Quay in Portsmouth as usual** - evening 'at leisure' in GunWharf
Thursday 12 June - early 'fast' ferry to Cherbourg and then to le mans via Caen, Argentan (lunch on the sharp right-hand bend* on the N26 - we hope to be there by 2pm so come and join us) and then A28 to le mans.

* those of you with sat navs should switch them off and look for a sharp-right hand bend with a restuarant on the outside of the bend after a series of bends with a nice-looking chateau on one of the bends and a long downhill straight about mid-way between Argentan and the junction with the N138 and A28 - although the junction with the A28 isn't on most maps yet. (what did we do before sat navs and mobile phones ?  is this really how we arranged gatherings ? ed)

** see update to the route in the 2nd June entry above.  Nothing usual about anything this year !

21st May : The ACO announces that the Cheshire band StarSailor will be the live entertainment by the Dunlop bridge on the Saturday night at this year's le mans.  Now they may not be a Cheshire band per-se, but 2 of the original members were born in Warrington and they are based in Chorley, which is the NorthWest of England so we are claiming them as Cheshire.  To find out more about StarSailor click here.  Cheshire bands are becoming a regular fixture at le mans.  Click here to see The Charlatans at le mans in 2006.

20th May : All club cars are booked in with Balanced Valet for their pre le mans 'shine' on 5th and 6th June.  Results will be posted on the website over the weekend of 7th/8th June.

15 May : The Chumleys Episode 3 : Reports of the chumley family outing to le mans this year (see earlier entries) may have been exagerated. Porscheshire have learnt that unless they improve their room-tidying performance they may have to stay home. With good behaviour they may be allowed to watch the highlights on tv.

10 May : There will be an Aston Martin (well an engine at least) in LMP1 this year.  The Aston-engined Lola has been taking part in the European Le Mans Series.  It is quick, but as yet not very reliable.  But should give the Brits something to cheer on in LPM1 for a change.

2 May : Special agents worked through the night to interpret a message left on the Porscheshire notice board yesterday.  Using new techniques in interpreting a language thought to be on the increase in the UK (known as 'teenagertext') we are able to confirm that Tom (son of chumley #2) has confirmed that he will be joining his dad (see news 28th April) on this year's trip to le mans.

28 April :
The Bad news : Chumley Warner #2 will also be going on a family holiday this year (like CW#1).

The Good news : That family holiday will be to Le Mans !  Porscheshire looks forward to welcoming his brother and his son as well as his son (that's CW#1's son, not his son's son).

23 April : fresh from his ballet rehersal #3 speaks to Porscheshire TV and tells us all about the photo shoot for the 2008 cat design :

15 April : T-shirt and car 'decal' designs are finalised.  According to the chief designer for 2008 they are more 'linear' and represent a 'breakthrough in our image'.  The cheshire cat has been brought up-to-date (although there is a rumour that it is actually based on a picture of #3 from last year's trip.)  Colour has been replaced by simple white on black.  The designs will be formally unveiled on this website in the next few days.

10 April : Disappointing news.  Porscheshire has recently found out that one of the chumley warners will not be at le mans in 2008.  He will be sadly missed.  Apparently he is on a road-trip with his family ?  Here's a photo of the man - he's the one on the left with #1 and #2.  We will raise our glasses at the annual barbeque in your honour.  [We would have to raise a lot of them, and they would have to filled with champagne, ed.]  The other chumley warner will be there so we look forward to seeing if he has a carerra GT this year ??

30 March : As rumoured, Porscheshire will be taking 3 cars to le mans this year.  The trip will see the return of 'Ian the first' who makes a popular return after missing 2007 (aka #4).  'Tweezers' will be there again (aka #5) although he has been relieved of his official photographer duties for this year as we are still waiting for his photos from last year !  [We wouldn't mind but he had the best camera and took about 1000 photos, ed.] 'Ian the second will re-join us (aka #6), but this time as co-pilot in one of the club cars instead of that big old Audi.  #2 will get to drive again (having had to co-pilot #3 last year and leave 'sally carrera' at home).  #1 will be back although there is some dispute over who will be his co-pilot.  #3 is in charge this year so we look forward to a more mature approach to the festivities.

Polo shirt colours were agreed on with black winning the vote.  'Tweezers' agreed to organise the shirts again this year and also agreed to take on the added responsibility of car 'decals'.

The meeting closed with #3 (remember he is organising things this year) having done nothing and taken away none of the actions.  Delegation at it's best.
